GBRailFreight are now happy that there is enough loco availability in Scotland following the introduction of the Class 73s and as a result no longer require 55 022. Bearing in mind that the loco travelled to Scotland to work the Translator Coach workings for just a month in April 2013, we have had a good run. Since arriving at Springburn RSG has worked every single train asked of it on the Kilmarnock and Shields jobs, as well as a few other wagon movement trips and the few week stint on The Royal Scotsman in April and May last year. Apart from the usual light bulbs, the only other item that has needed repair was an electrical flash over on one Traction Motor Blower, which was quickly repaired the same day, thanks to Stuart Sellar and Andy McLean from the SRPS at Bo’ness.
55 022, running as 55 007 ‘Pinza’ is scheduled to run light engine to Bo’ness on Wednesday 23rd March as shown below, a few jobs will be completed at Bo’ness and it’s possible that it would be nice if it works a train or two whilst there. Negotiations are on-going with a number of other Preserved railways and we hope to announce details soon.
