Gallery, preserved railways, renovation, thanks

2 May , 2016

As mentioned a while ago, when 55 022 left Springburn and headed for Bo’ness, a few jobs were planned to be completed on the loco before heading off to the North Yorkshire Moors Railway with 26 038. The main work was installing a complete new set of Traction Motor Carbon Brushes to all 6 Traction Motors and testing and re-certification of all the Air Receivers, which turned out to be a seriously major task involving removing the air receivers and traction motor blowers from the nose ends to allow access. In addition, there were a few smaller jobs, such as installing new emergency detonators etc. All the scheduled work is now complete and myself and Andy Marra should be at Bo’ness tomorrow afternoon to complete our Fitness To Run exam and install another few new components.

It looked like yesterday was a fairly busy time at Bo’ness when the loco worked the 15.35 round trip up to Manuel Junction and thanks to all who visited, I hope it earned the SRPS a few extra pounds income. A few photos are below, kindly supplied by Davie Horne showing some of the recent work and I’d like to express my gratitude to all who have helped out during 22’s recent time. The team were led by Stuart Sellar who drove the loco yesterday, Andy McLean who drove the loco for his 30th birthday treat a few weeks ago, Iain Waugh, Lindsay Patterson, Phil Buck and Ben Wiliamson as well as everyone else. Thanks so much once again for your help.
