Most viewers of this site will be well aware that 55 022 has ran as 55 003 and became 55 007 ‘Pinza’ last July. The locos temporary identity was changed again late on Saturday night inside the shed at Wansford on the Nene Valley Railway and the loco has now become what was one of my favourite Finsbury park locos 55 018 ‘Ballymoss’.
In addition to working for a straight 7 day period at the Railway, working the ever popular Footplate Experience/Driver Days and being a very popular participant in the Diesel Gala, an enormous amount of time has been spent completing a 5 Yearly exam on the loco. All was found to be in great condition and in general the loco seems to get better as time progresses!! The diesel gala was a great success and I’d like to thank all who visited and purchased items from our sales stand on the platform at Wansford.
I’d like to especially thank some of our great dedicated volunteer support team for their assistance during the last week, namely Andy Marra, Steve Walton, Sam Walker, Dave Fisher and Alan Knight. Additionally all at the Nene Valley Railway for their co-operation and also Mandy Sharp for travelling on a Sunday to complete our annual OTMR, TPWS and GSM-R testing.
Here’s a photo of the number and nameplate taken on Saturday night after the work was completed.
