I am sorry to announce that there has been little progress with D9016 ‘Gordon Highlander’ since I last reported on the 8th February. Unfortunately due to other commitments, the welding and fabrication specialists who were going to further survey and estimate the budget required to complete the welding work, have been unable to attend Washwood Heath due to other work commitments. I am hopeful that this can be completed within the next two weeks and should provide more news at that time.
I am also still awaiting delivery of the brand new cab-side window panels for the Number 2 End cab, it is hoped that they should be ready for collection towards the end of this week. Fingers crossed these will be as expected and after checking them over, I hope to order similar for the Number 1 end cab and also possibly a few more sets for other Deltic locos.
As mentioned, I still do not have a ‘target’ as such for the costs to repair ‘Gordon’s’ bodywork, windows and carry out a full repaint. Despite this funds totalling £405.00 have steadily been kindly donated since my last update from Mick Horton, Adrian Williams, Chris Birkett, Graham Knight, David Willoughby, Mark Raymond, Michael Gilmont, Michael Wildman, Nigel Lacey, Tony Kirkham, Nigel Julian, Alan Whincup, Ian Beattie, Duncan McRae, Tim Hagan, Martyn Harrison, Graham Jackman and Robert Purcell. The combined total received so far is £2,490.00 for which I am very grateful.
