The 3 days of Footplate Experience Days at the Nene Valley featuring driving 55 022 in it’s current guise of 55 018 ‘Ballymoss’ taking place on Thursday 25th May, Monday 12th and Tuesday 13th June are filling up rapidly with only a few spaces now available. If you would like the chance to drive our famous Deltic locomotive at the Nene Valley railway, please ensure that you book soon to avoid disappointment. Bookings can be made by calling 01780 784444, details can be found at http://www.nvr.org.uk/events/deltic-no-55-018-ballymoss-driving-courses The image shows Steve Forey a former BR Kings Cross Deltic driver happily re-acquainting himself with driving a Deltic after so many years at last years event.

A reminder that the loco will be available for cab and engine room visits this Saturday at Wansford Station during the special ‘Best Of British’ event on Saturday 22nd April. 60163 ‘Tornado’ which recently wrote itself in to the record books by attaining 100 Miles Per Hour will operate services throughout the day with the 17.30 from Wansford and 18.05 from Peterborough Nene Valley being hauled nonstop by 55 022. We hope that you will visit us and show your support for the Nene Valley, Tornado and of course 55 022. Details of the day including full timetable can be found at http://www.nvr.org.uk/events/tornado-best-british

We are expecting that 55 022 will be hauling other diesel locos to the Severn Valley Railway’s Diesel Gala, possibly departing from Wansford on the morning of Bank Holiday Monday 1st May and running to Kidderminster via Devon & Cornwall Railway’s Washwood Heath Depot. We will as always endeavor to provide times for this working when they are available.
