Tomorrow is the first day of ‘Footplate Driver Days’ at the Nene Valley Railway, there are 2 further days planned to take place on Monday 12th and Tuesday 13th June, a few places remain available on these dates, to book please call 01780-784444. In addition to these Driving Course days, the Nene Valley Railway is holding it’s 40th Anniversary celebration event on Saturday 3rd and Sunday 4th June. This includes regular service trains hauled by 55 022, running as 55 018 ‘Ballymoss’ and steam locos 34081 ’92 Squadron’ and 46100 ‘Royal Scot’. Class 31, 31 271 is also planned to work brake van trains between Orton Mere and Fletton Junction along the mainline connection line and a Class 14 Hydraulic should also haul trains between Wansford and Yarwell Junction.

This promises to be a great event and it is fitting that 55 022 has been invited, bearing on mind it was the locos home for it’s first 5 years after entering preservation following he British Rail career. We look forward to many Class 55 fans being present to support the Railway and 55 022. Trains scheduled to be worked by 55 022 on both days are:-

10.25 Wansford to Peterborough and 10.40 Peterborough to Wansford with the ex BR Mark 1 coaching stock.

13.10 Wansford to Orton Mere and 13.55 Orton Mere to Wansford with the ex Wagon Lits continental coaches.

16.30 Wansford to Peterborough and 17.10 Peterborough to Wansford, again with the ex BR Mark 1 coaching stock.
