The Class 55 Deltics were named after their powerful Napier Deltic diesel engines, the iconic Class served the East Coast Main Line from the early 1960s until the last examples were retired in January 1982. While in service, the Deltics dominated services between London Kings Cross, Edinburgh, Newcastle, Leeds and York. Six remain preserved. Colin Alexander was obsessed by the Deltics since his childhood and photographed these charismatic locomotives in mainline service, in withdrawal and in preservation since the 1970s. His pictures make a wonderful personal record of the Class 55 locomotives. Soft card cover, 96 pages featuring 180 illustrations.
